A collaboration between RealNZ and Altitude Tours, Milford Sound Business Class offers a more refined way to experience Milford Sound from Queenstown. Travel the iconic Milford Road in a custom Mercedes vehicle, cruise the fiord aboard the exclusive MV Sinbad, and choose to return by road, scenic flight, or helicopter. Thoughtfully designed from start to finish, this is Milford Sound with greater comfort, attentive service, and a more relaxed pace.
Departing from Queenstown at approximately 7:00am, your day begins with complimentary pick-up from selected accommodation. From there, settle into a custom-built Mercedes designed for premium long-distance touring, with a glass roof, panoramic windows, bespoke seating, and a small group of no more than 15 guests. It is a comfortable and well-paced start to the day, hosted by an experienced guide.
The drive to Milford Sound is one of the defining parts of the experience. Travelling in a smaller group allows for a more relaxed pace, with carefully chosen stops along the way and more time to appreciate the changing scenery. Rather than feeling like a transfer, the journey becomes part of the day itself.
A stop in Te Anau offers a natural pause before entering Fiordland. Enjoy a peaceful morning tea at a private lounge, take a moment to stretch your legs, and prepare for the next part of the journey as the landscape begins to shift around you.
From here, the road leads into Fiordland National Park, where the scenery becomes broader, steeper, and more dramatic. Ancient forest, glacier-carved valleys, and towering peaks shape the journey, while your guide shares local stories and insight along the way.
As the road opens into Eglinton Valley, the landscape takes on a different sense of scale. Wide flats, native beech forest, and steep mountain walls give this part of the journey a quiet grandeur that feels distinctly Fiordland.
Mirror Lakes is one of those stops that leaves a lasting impression through its simplicity. On a calm day, the still water reflects the surrounding mountains with remarkable clarity, creating one of Fiordland’s most recognisable views.
The approach to the Homer Tunnel signals that Milford is getting close. Passing through the tunnel, the landscape shifts again, often becoming even more dramatic on the other side. In wet weather, waterfalls pour down the cliffs, while clear days reveal sharp alpine views all around.
On arrival in Milford Sound, you will bypass the passenger terminal and step directly aboard the MV Sinbad, the bespoke RealNZ vessel created for the Business Class experience. A complimentary glass of Cloudy Bay sparkling wine is served on arrival, while spacious seating, carefully considered interiors, and bespoke Māori carvings set the tone for the cruise ahead.
As you cruise through the fiord, enjoy a five-course degustation menu by renowned New Zealand chef Tom Hishon. Thoughtfully designed to complement the setting, the dining experience adds another layer to the journey without taking away from the scenery outside. Wine pairing is also available for those who wish to add it.
Cruising through Piopiotahi Milford Sound at a more relaxed pace allows the landscape to fully reveal itself. Towering cliffs, waterfalls, native wildlife, and the striking presence of Mitre Peak all become part of the experience, while a knowledgeable nature guide shares commentary and helps bring the fiord to life.
After your cruise, choose the return that suits you best. Travel back to Queenstown by road in the same business-class comfort, or upgrade to a scenic fixed-wing flight or helicopter transfer for an entirely different perspective over Fiordland. Extended helicopter experiences are also available exclusively to Business Class guests. In-seat amenities and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi are included as part of the experience.
After your cruise, choose the return journey that suits you best. Travel in comfort with our luxurious business-class vans, or upgrade to a scenic fixed-wing flight or helicopter transfer for breathtaking aerial views.
For the ultimate experience, opt for an extended helicopter tour featuring a 30 minute landing followed by a dramatic mountain or glacier landing. Take in unforgettable views of Milford Sound, the Hollyford Valley, and the remote beauty of the wider South Island from above.
Enjoy a spectacular scenic flyback (additional cost and weather dependent).
